Yet another year and another Download Festival. As usual with this festival a contriversial and varied line-up was the order of the day.rnrnFriday:rnrnThe opening day kicked off on the main stage with US band Black Tide (6.5/10) where each member is around 17 years old! The UK was a baron wasteland for metal festivals before Bloodstock began in 2001. Okay, you had the odd Ozzfest and giant Metallica gigs but these were aimed at the more commercial end of the metal spectrum, as was the proceeding Download Festival. With the Sonisphere and High Voltage festivals picking off bands there was always going to be a point where Download would suffer. From the offset this Download festival line-up always looked to be a slightly weaker proposition than previous years but that didn't stop over fifty thousand people making their way to the holy Mecca that is Donington Park.
